9 March 2001:
ASS Automotive Solar Systems GmbH is set up by Mr. Reinhard
Wecker, who by this time already has
15 years’ experience in manufacturing spherically curved solar panel sunroof modules, such as for
the Audi A8 Solar.
2002:
Work begins on building samples and prototypes at the new Technology and Media Centre in Erfurt
2003:
Production of standard modules for building roofs and outdoor arrays starts
2004:
Development continues of large roof systems for road vehicles
2005:
Project with Behr (Stuttgart): solar-powered air conditioning for parked vehicles
2005:
Battery recharging improved through direct cooperation with car manufacturers
(DaimlerChrysler, Audi, BMW, Volvo etc)
2006:
Production programme expanded to include 230W solar modules
1 July 2007:
Relocation to a new production unit measuring 3,500 square metres in Isseroda close to Erfurt
